Sony Ericsson Mobile, now known as Sony mobile, is the mobile phone wing of the Sony Corporation. The company started its smartphone range called Xperia with Windows Mobile OS and then moved to Android. It held a strong position in the cell phone market until 2014. Later with the failure of then launched smartphone model Q3, the company started losing its market share. Sony gained popularity for its waterproof and dustproof smartphones.
Recently Sony launched Xperia 8 on 7th October 2019. The company is also planning to launch Xperia 4, 10, and 10plus by 25th December 2019. Though the company has withdrawn itself from many markets all over the world but is still plans to come up with new products for existing markets.

The information has been leaked that Sony will launch four flagships under Xperia by next year. Thus, the expected phones are Xperia 0, Xperia 1.1, Xperia 3, and Xperia 5.1 in 2020. Moreover, the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC and 5G connectivity will be available in Xperia 0. Also, this is going to be its high-end model. In addition to these features, there will be six cameras on the back. Along with this, the phone will have a 5K display on the front. One can say this phone will be the successor of Xperia XZ3. The Xperia 0 will be revealed at IFA 2020. But the date of the launch has not been declared.
Meanwhile, Xperia 1.1 and 5.1 will have four rear cameras. While Xperia 5.1 will have a QHD display, Xperia 1.1 will have a 4K screen. Though the company is planning for new releases, it is also exiting non-profitable markets. The company is in a steady decline for many years now. Furthermore, Xperia 1 and 5 have failed to compete in the market.

Thus, the fact is Sony is facing tough competition from Chinese and South Korean smartphone makers. Hence, the company has announced to quit the smartphone market in India. Also, the company had less than 0.01 percent of the total market share in India in 2019 first quarter. But Sony will continue customer support operations like software updates for existing customers in India.
